Mark Stankiewicz
Mark Stankiewicz is an artist, muralist, and educator whose work celebrates color, movement, and emotional expression. Growing up in Hawai‘i and Korea, he developed an early fascination with art and culture that continues to influence his creative approach.
He earned a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a BA in Art History from the University of Hawai‘i, and later received an MFA in Photography with a certificate in Art Education from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. His diverse career has included teaching art from kindergarten through community college while maintaining an active studio practice.
In addition to painting and drawing, Mark creates “Stanograms,” a form of photogram developed in the darkroom that explores the unseen world of eidolons and emotional imagery. While these works are more somber in tone, his paintings and murals often focus on vibrant color and the energy of life, inviting viewers to connect with feelings of movement, optimism, and imagination.
Mark also runs a mural company with his wife, We Create Murals, and together they have completed murals and public art projects in schools, businesses, private homes, and hospitals. He lives in Monroe, New York with his wife and two daughters.
